Healey Urges Legislature to Fully Debate Casino ATM Change

AG-Elect Argues for Delay on Bill, Public Process in Next Session

BOSTON —Attorney General-Elect Maura Healey today urged the Legislature to carefully consider and not rush through proposed changes to the location of ATMs at casinos. Responding to news reports, Healey urged the Legislature to first carefully consider the impact to consumers and give this issue a full, public hearing in the next session.

Healey’s statement follows:

"Efforts to lift the ban on casino floor ATMs should to be carefully considered and openly debated, not rushed through in the waning days of the legislative session. The impact on consumers needs to be considered up front, not punted until after the restrictions are lifted. I urge the Legislature and Gaming Commission to tread carefully and promise a full, public hearing in the next session."
